Where do they fly?

How are birds recorded for wind power plant planning?Documentation: Spatial use mapping of birds at risk of impact in the planning of wind energy in forests.

We have accompanied our team of ornithologists with a camera to be able to give you a small workshop report on the spatial use mapping of birds at risk of collision for the planning of wind power plants in the forest. Project developers, authorities, nature conservation associations or interested citizens are occasionally confronted with the results of such a survey and miss an insight into the concrete work processes. We would like to make a contribution to this with the video clip and give you an insight into the daily work of our ornithologists in the field. For the species conservation assessment of the advised wind power sites, extensive studies on the behavior of the birds in the area are necessary, which – especially in the forest – means some use of technology and personnel. In addition to the method, Mrs. Töpfer-Hofmann from our management will also present possible avoidance measures and assessment criteria.
